Live@edu Will Help Engg Students Collaborate
AICTE and Microsoft launch a cloud service to help students share notes.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Microsoft have joined hands to come out with several communication services including email with a 10 GB inbox and instant messaging, along with Microsoft Office web apps, specially designed for engineering students across the country. The service known as Live@edu, which is already live and will help as many as 7.5 million students and 5 lakh faculty members that are scattered across 10,000 technical institutes in India. Reports suggest that the implementation is already underway and the service would be completely deployed by mid-June.
Once an institution registers for the service, users will get access to email, calendars with 10 GB inbox, 25 GB additional file storage through Windows Live SkyDrive, documents sharing and collaboration, instant messaging, video chat, and mobile email. The service is already being used by over 10,000 schools across more than 130 countries.
