Google To Roll Out Update To Deal With Scary Android Bug
The bug allows hackers take over your phone by sending you a multimedia message with malware embedded in the code.
It seems that Google is coming up with the biggest software update in history to fix a scary Android bug that was discovered last week which allows hackers take over your phone by sending you a multimedia message with malware embedded in the code.
Google's Adrian Ludwig announced recently that updates are being pushed out fast, especially to Google's Nexus line of phones. So, if you are a Google Nexus user, then you might get a 'Check for Updates' button anytime.
However, this doesn't mean that the non-Nexus devices are safe from the bug. It's just that the company will get the update rolled out sometime this week. Until then, we recommend the Android users to be pretty careful. Apparently, Hangouts might add a little spice in to this by automatically load the file so that you would be able to see a little thumbnail of the video right away.
So, how does the Google's fix work in stopping the bug? Well, simple. It just stops the phones from pre-loading the video in the message you might get.
Ludwig has also announced that, user with Ice Cream Sandwich should be safe thanks to some code that mitigates exploits while the code is being fixed.
