Meizu Launches MX4 Ubuntu Edition Smartphone In The European Market

Company seems to have simply replaced the Google's operating system with that of the Canonical's.

Chinese electronics company Meizu has recently unveiled the third Ubuntu based smartphone, Meizu MX4 in the European market after the Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 HD by Spanish company BQ.

Speaking about the latest Ubuntu smartphone, it is the Ubuntu Edition of the existing MX4 which is a Chinese-only Android device released last year.

This simply means that the company Meizu seems to have replaced the Google's operating system with Canonical's OS.

Said to be coming to two colour option, silver and gold, the device has 16 GB internal memory with a 20.7 MP rear camera and 2 MP front facing camera.

Along with this, the Meizu MX4 is said to be having a large 5.35 inch premium retina screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

It is also worth noting that the MX4 Ubuntu Edition was also launched on May 17 to developers in China.

However, the smartphone is yet to come to India meaning that it cannot be bought in India as of now.

But, looking at the trending smartphone market in India and Meizu MX4 Android Version already available in the country, it is expected that the company might be bringing its MX4 smartphone with Ubuntu operating system pretty soon.

Having said this, Meizu seems to be planning for a weird invite system (an interactive origami wall) which might disappoint many buyers.

Also, Meizu app store is definitely lacking from the best apps for now which seems to be a little tricky for the company to sell its smartphone.

However, we just have to wait and watch how the Ubuntu smartphones play in the current trending smartphone market.
