Skype For Web (Beta) Now Available Worldwide
Also, Chromebook and Linux users can now access the web beta version for instant messaging.
Skype has announced the availability of its web beta version worldwide on June 17.
To recall, the web beta service was initially launched only in the US and UK with no luck for Chromebook and Linux OS users.
However, it seems that the times have changed. The company has announced in its official blog that the Skype for Web (Beta) would be expanded to every other country along with access to Chromebook and Linux OS users.
This seems to be a very good move by the company as it proves to be a big advantage for users having access through office or on a shared computer which does not have the application downloaded.
But, this doesn't mean that you do not need your login credentials to make a call and chat with your friend.
Skype's official blog also informs that the web beta version would be supporting Arabic, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, English, German, Greek, Spanish, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional.
It is also worth noting that Skype for Web is implementing the technology to make Real-Time Communications on the web a reality.
However, we recommend the users on Chrome to install the Skype plug-in to make the calls.
You can just give it a try now by visiting www.skype.com or web.skype.com.
