Sony’s Dirtyphones.org Campaign Is A Smart One Indeed
Slyly educates you into buying an Xperia smartphone.
If you have been browsing around the web lately (most of us are), you may have noticed an initiative by Sony Mobile that portrays how dirty our touchscreen smartphones really are.
Clicking on the ad banner, the campaign goes on about the facts with owners holding everything from toilet seats to shoes to their ears, resembling how dirty our smartphones really are,
Curious users clicking on the link (thinking that its a cleaning product) will take you to a well-designed website that continues to tell you, how dirty your smartphone really is. And frankly speaking, according to many studies; this is the case. But this one’s a trap.
And a good one indeed. While educating “innocent” consumers about the good habits to prevent your phone from becoming as dirty as a public toilet, it guides users about using anything from using alcohol wipes to UV cleaners and even washing it?
That’s the catch right there. Sony advises at end of it all, that you should wash your smartphones to keep them clean. Xperia smartphones that is, with a blown up image of the recently announced Xperia M2 Aqua Dual at the very bottom.
Just in case you did not get the point of this exercise, Sony has even included a list of “Water-loving smartphones” at the bottom.
A smart campaign indeed from Sony, one that educates and sells. At least it is better than the "mock your competition" ads that Samsung comes up with from time to time.
Still then, we must point out that Sony’s flagships are know for other problems like their heating issues.
Now that the Xperia Z4 with the problematic Snapdragon 810 errr... Heats up? We could have another campaign. Got a overheating Sony smartphone? Just dip it in the water may be?
