Meizu Takes The Wraps Off Its Refreshed m2 note
No sign of a launch date yet.
Meizu has finally unveiled the next version of its successful m1 note aptly titled as the m2 note. The budget busting smartphone comes at a CNY 999 (approx. Rs 10,000) price tag with some extra goodies that make it worth the price.
Clearly we have no clue why Meizu has already announced m2 note so early as its predecessor is still on sale in markets like India and frankly speaking still packs in quite a punch with some minuses.
When it comes to the looks of the m1 note’s successor, Meizu seems to have gone in for a mixed texture, one that sports a matte finish around the frames while the back retains the glossy polycarbonate finish.
The rest of the design remains the same with the addition of a hybrid dual SIM layout which also makes room for an SD card. We also have a home button, which has now shifted from a capacitive one to a physical button tagged the “mBack”.
As for the hardware, we get a few new upgrades:
- There is a 5.5 Full HD IGZO display on the front with tempered glass for protection
- Inside, we get an updated octa-core MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB of built-in storage
- As an upgrade we also have a memory card slot, which is a much needed addition
- The camera department consists of a 13 MP unit on the back with an LED flash and a 5 MP 69 degree wide-angle set up on the front
- Connectivity options now include more 4 G bands and Cat.4 LTE speeds as well
- Powering all of the above is a slightly larger 3,140 mAh battery
On the software side of things we get the new Flyme 4.5 OS with Android 5.0 Lollipop as the base, that is an upgrade over the m1's Android KitKat .
The Meizu m2 note will come in pink, blue, white and grey when available, the details of which have not been disclosed till now.
