Facebook's Internet.Org Attracts 8 Lakh Users In India
Facebook claims that about 20 per cent of Internet.Org users were previously not active on mobile data.
Amidst the furious war of net neutrality, Social media giant Facebook has managed to attract 8 lakh users in India alone for its Internet.org initiative.
It is worth recalling that, Facebook had recently faced criticism for launching the platform which is seen as violating the principle of net neutrality.
However, Facebook seems to be boasting about the 20 percent of Internet.org users who were previously not active on mobile data.

Also, we need to keep in mind here that, Internet.Org is currently available in just seven circles - Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
To add in more numbers, Facebook claims to have made Internet available to over 800 million people in nine countries, including India.
In case if you are absent on the recent past news, Internet.Org is a global initiative undertaken by Facebook and partnered in India by telecom major Reliance Communications to offer free access to over 30 websites without data charges to users in India.

It is also worth noting that recently, Facebook announced an open programme for developers to create services that integrate with Internet.Org.
The social network giant is looking forward to bring 5 billion people online in partnership with tech giants like Samsung and Qualcomm.
