OPPO Launches Its Budget LTE A31 Smartphone In China
Could be headed to India, but seems a bit pricey for the hardware.
OPPO has announced its all new, glass and metal budget LTE smartphone offering called the A31 for the Chinese market.
The smartphone may not pack in the best hardware specs for the asking price of $160 (approx. Rs 10,000) but will definitely win in the looks department thanks to its design.
And that is exactly what you get with the OPPO A31. The smartphone looks similar to most others in the smartphone market from the front, but you have these cool-looking dots as cut-outs for the speaker on the back.
What you have to keep in mind is that the A31 is a glass and metal affair (there is no plastic anywhere). You get a metal frame that is sandwiched with two panels of glass on the back and the front, which gives the smartphone a premium look at just 8mm of thickness.
Still then, it is the hardware that will matter once you press the power button. While OPPO seems to have the perfect choice for the processor, everything else seems a bit outdated considering the price tag:
- We get a 4.5 inch 854 x 480 pixel display
- Inside, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core chipset that comes with a measly 1 GB of RAM
- The memory department consists of 8 GB of internal memory, while micro SD card slot accepts cards of up to 128 GB in capacity
- There is an 8 MP f/2.2 unit on the back accompanied by an LED flash and a 5 MP sensor up front for selfies
- Obviously the phone supports 4G bands but also includes dual SIM support
- Sadly, the 2000 mAh battery seems a bit small in the case of the A31, which is still powered by Android 4.4 KitKat
With so many manufacturers in the Android space offering their budget LTE smartphones for the budding 4G/LTE Indian market, we were pretty sure that OPPO would not want out either.
So we could expect the budget A31 to make its way to India pretty soon; similar to the Mirror 3, which was announced a few months ago.
