Microsoft’s Zeiss-Equipped Lumia 640 XL Announced In India
Brings quality imaging to the budget to mid-range with a dash of LTE.
Along with the Lumia 640, Microsoft also announced its bigger (not to mention more powerful) sibling, the Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM for the Indian market.
Announced first at the MWC 2015, the handset has been priced attractively, considering the hardware package, and seems to be a successor to the humongous, Lumia 1320.
Microsoft has literally unleashed a beast of a smartphone with the Lumia 640 XL. What will make it compete with the rest of the droids here in the Indian market are the Zeiss optics.
While we will leave it to Microsoft as to how it managed to squeeze in so much into a well-priced package, we were impressed by the hardware bits that Microsoft has chosen.
The Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM LTE was literally designed with the ‘big everything’ approach:
- We get a massive 5.7 inch ClearBlack, IPS LCD of HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) with Gorilla Glass 3 protection
- Inside, we find a 1.2 GHz, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 128 GB)
- As for the cameras we get treated to a 13 MP unit with an LED flash, while the front-facing unit is a large, Full HD 5MP wide angle one
- Connectivity options include the usual radios along with dual SIM connectivity that supports LTE bands
- All of the above are fuelled by a large 3000 mAh battery and the handset runs Windows Phone 8.1 with the Denim package
The Lumia 640 XL Dual SIM LTE seems to be quite a contender thanks to its design and hardware but what indeed makes this more interesting is the price tag.
The handset will be available for purchase starting today in cyan, orange, black and white for Rs 15,799.
