Facebook Removes 'Feeling Fat' Emoticon After The Urge By Activists
Facebook has replaced the words 'Feeling Fat' with 'Feeling Stuffed' in the lengthy list of feelings and activities.
Many of us are very well aware of the emoticons which can be used in Facebook to showcase how we are feeling at that particular moment.
There is a big list of feelings and activities which we can include with our status updates alongside the likes of "blessed", "loved" and "drunk".
We are pretty sure that you have also observed that the list had 'feeling fat' option.
However, recently, more than 16,000 people had signed an online petition to get the 'feeling fat' option removed from the list.
Many people were of the opinion that "fat is not a feeling" and Facebook was encouraging negative body image among girls.
Facebook like a very good company which is open for feedback from the community has responded for the petition and finally removed the 'feeling fat' from the list of options.
To add more, Change.org was used for the online petition by 16,000 people to make sure Facebook brought down the 'feeling fat' option.
We are thrilled by the success that we can see in this instance and it depicts us all that people together can challenge the cultural messages that are damaging to our ability to love ourselves and live comfortably in our bodies.
To conclude, we can note down that there is still the 'feeling ugly' option under Facebook's emoticons menu and we can pretty much predict that some day soon may be that will also have to be removed by the company.
