Twitter’s “While You Were Away” Feature Rolls Out To Android

You can now enjoy only the most important tweets and avoid the annoying chronological order.

With the goal of helping the twitter users catch up with the world we follow, the micro-blogging site has come up with a new feature “While You Were Away”.

It is worth noting that Twitter had earlier released this update to the iOS users.

The feature actually enables you to surface the best tweets based on user engagement instead of going through the tweets in reverse chronological order.

So, if you are the one who gets annoyed easily after logging on to Twitter and coming across a huge number of content which forces you to scroll all the way up, then this feature is for you.

However, if you are more of an addict towards Twitter, you wouldn’t be seeing the feature much often.

In other words, with this feature you get to see the important tweets that you might have missed out just like the Facebook’s News Feed.

It seems that Twitter has taken on a serious note to improve its service and thus compete with other social networking sites like Facebook.

Twitter has been tweaking its algorithm in order to explore more options to monetise its services.

With Facebook now focussing on news and features such as hashtags, mentions and trending topics, Twitter is under pressure to increase its subscriber base as well as user engagement.

Also, recently, the micro-blogging website added Instagram-like photo filters to push photo sharing on the network.
