Redmi Note 4G Moves On To MIUI V6.3.5.0; Still Stuck With KitKat

With a UX like this, we don’t think MI fans will be missing Android Lollipop anyways.

The Redmi Note 4G that was launched in India a couple of months ago is now getting a fresh software update from Xiaomi’s servers. The new firmware updates the handset to Xiaomi’s custom MIUI V6 ROM that shows off its new UX that has some similarities with Apple’s iOS 7.

MIUI V6.3.5.0 brings a lot of improvements to the budget 4G, Android handset. While we did not notice too many issues in our review (the standard Redmi Note had plenty of them) thanks to the Snapdragon 400 SoC inside, many have been reported on the official forums.

This would include fixes for the camera lag, music playback and performance improvements along with the brand new MIUI V6 UX.

One thing to “note” here is that Xiaomi has still not delivered Android Lollipop with this update. The base of the firmware is stuck at Android KitKat and we have yet to hear from Xiaomi about its move to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Still then, we are pretty sure that MI fans will be least bothered about the base Android version considering the plethora of UX changes that the new update brings.

About 577 MB in size, the firmware is a bit heavy so we suggest you connect to a Wi-Fi network before downloading the same. The update can be downloaded over the air (OTA) and you will receive a notifcation for the same when it is available in your region.
