OPPO Showcases Latest Color OS Firmware With KitKat For Find 7/7a
While the Android herd is trying to get their hands on 5.0 Lollipop, seems like OPPO owners will have a mighty long wait for that.
While OPPO smartphone owners have some pretty powerful hardware at their disposal with smartphones like the Find 7 and the OPPO N3, it is indeed disheartening to know that those very smartphones currently run KitKat (which is fine) and some even Jelly Bean. And while other smartphone makers are busy hurrying up their builds for the February and March deadlines with Android Lollipop 5.0, OPPO seems to be working on its build running Android 4.4. But as many users will tell you, OPPO’s Color OS indeed keeps things refreshed; so even though their late, owners will still be looking forward to receiving the KitKat update.
True that the same owners will miss out on things like complete ART runtime support, along with many apps available in the app store that are now Lollipop ready with all those juicy transitions. But what OPPO has showcased in the video is indeed commendable.
The video showcases a ROM, with for the OPPO Find 7 running its Color OS 2.0.4, a custom skin that the company is still working on. The base remains at Android KitKat but there are plenty of new features here that will keep owners busy once they receive their respective firmware updates.
The beta build is currently available only to testers as of now and comes with the following features:
- Upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat
- Unified storage support for both devices, what's more now you don't need to use a PC tool to get unified storage anymore, you can simply do it all on your phone.
- New Camera, the new camera app with PI 2.0 engine, supports more camera mode and with expandable widgets which will allow 3rd party developers to develop new functions on this platform.
- Then there are some cosmetic changes like new wallpapers and even the ability to sort the settings menu in alphabetical order.
There is obviously a fan following of owners who will wait for the official ROM to arrive via an update. As for the rest, they may somehow get their share of Lollipop 5.0 by flashing a number of custom ROMs that are available for the Find 7.
