Say Hello To Meizu’s iPhone 5c Look-Alike, The m1 note
Two years later, at least they got the price tag right at 160 USD.
Meizu has unveiled its much-awaited budget smartphone and boy, does it look like the iPhone 5c! The Meizu m1 note is an Android-powered budget smartphone that somehow stands right there in line with Xiaomi’s Redmi Note and comes at a similar price tag, but with much better specs.
Indeed it looks pretty similar to Apple’s iPhone offering, but its what’s inside along with that big Full HD display that will keep things refreshed for buyers of such devices. We say this since, the Meizu has not officially entered the Indian market yet so if you do happen to purchase a Meizu product, good luck, if things go wrong and you are hunting for the nearest service centre.
As for the smartphone, it packs in some really generous hardware for the asking price. There is the uni-body polycarbonate chassis that is available in 5 colours on the back and a magnesium-alloy front panel upfront (below the glass) to keep things from “bending”.
Clearly, it wont appeal to the Qualcomm crowd, as this slim device sports a MediaTek chipset. Keeping that in mind, you will have to compare it to the Redmi Note 3, which was recently banned in India and the plethora of Indian and Chinese smartphone makers that have flooded the budget smartphone market.
As for what you get inside, the hardware is pretty impressive:
- We get a 5.5 inch IGZO display of 1080p resolution
- Inside there is a 1.7GHz, MediaTek MT6752 SoC with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory
- There is a 13 MP Samsung camera on the back and a 5 MP sensor up front for selfies
- As for the connectivity options, you get plenty with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (Supports dual-band , both 2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.0 and the usual FDD-LTE / WCDMA / GSM radios
- There are two SIM slots available and the handset is powered by a large 3140 mAh battery but weighs just 149 gms
We are pretty sure that Xiaomi fans would be really interested in a handset with specs like this, given that low price tag of 160 USD (approx 11,000 INR) for the 16 GB version. Again, there is a choice of colours available as well and it runs the custom Flyme 4 OS with an Android base.
As for availability, there is no information about that just yet; though you can pick up the recently released Meizu MX4 Pro and Meizu MX4 handsets online right now.
