Snapdragon 810 Reference Design Hardware Out; 4 GB RAM 4K Displays In The Works
In short its a sign of things to come to the smartphone world next year.
While Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 chipsets have slowly started to appear on flagships smartphones like the Google Nexus 6, the chipset has been making appearances on LTE enabled “prime” devices for quite some time now. The next chipset in line is obviously the Snapdragon 808 but since there isn’t much news about the hexa-core chipset, it indeed seems like Qualcomm’s bets are on the all-powerful Snapdragon 810. This is because the reference design hardware in the form of tablets and smartphones have begun rolling out thanks to Canadian company Intrinsyc.
Do keep in mind that this is a just a picture of things to come and that these smartphones have clearly not been produced for the regular consumer. The smartphone has been priced at 799 USD and comes with some pretty powerful hardware.
We get a 6.2 inch 2560 x 1600 pixel display below which hides the 64-bit, octa-core, Snapdragon 810 chipset with an Adreno 430 GPU. Coupled with that comes a hefty 4 GB of LP-DDR4 RAM and 32 GB of internal memory with micro SD card slot expansion. Also included is a 13 MP primary shooter, that allows for 4K capture and a plethora of sensors along with 8 mics. The device is powered by a 3020 mAh battery and comes with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0.
Next up is the tablet platform that features a similar configuration in terms of the chipset and RAM but comes with 64 GB of internal memory. Since this is a tablet there is 10.1 4K (3840 x 2160) pixels, (yes, you read that right) and a 13 MP camera sits on the back that can now capture 4K video at 60 fps. On the back is the 7560 mAh battery that powers all of the hardware mentioned above.
While this is indeed something Android fans would crave for right now, there is indeed a long wait, until these chipsets begin to show up in smartphones and tablets (sampling for manufacturers begins H1 2015). Thinking IFA Berlin 2015? May be.
