TENAA Certification Reveals Microsoft Branding For RM-1090 Smartphone
We also get a low down on the specs of this upcoming entry-level Windows Phone device.
We have not heard much about the RM-1090 especially since the launch of the Lumia 530, then the Lumia 730 and the Lumia 830. Well, news is that the rumoured smartphone has reached the Chinese certification agency, TENAA (similar to the FCC), which revealed not only the device, but also the much-talked about Microsoft branding along with some juicy bits about the hardware.
The RM-1090 had surfaced just a month ago at the FCC and like all discoveries made at the FCC, there is indeed not much that could be revealed about the smartphone. TENAA seems to be a lot more open and we now have the specs and the images of what would be the final product.
At first glance, the RM-1090 does look a lot like the Nokia Lumia 625, minus those hardware capacitive keys at the bottom. Next up we have the hardware specs which do look a bit interesting, but are a bit too brutal even for a Lumia device.
- The smartphone (according to TENAA) sports a 5 inch display with just a 960 x 540 pixels (don’t even think about calculating the pixel density)
- The battery is 1900 mAh one while the smartphone 140.2 x 72.4 x 9.3mm
- There are no details on the camera just yet, but from the images we can tell that it will at least sport an LED flash unit on the back
- We get dual SIM card slots and Windows Phone 8.1 running inside
Indeed Microsoft is gunning for an entry-level smartphone with Windows running inside, but are these specifications a bit too extreme (is a big screen that important)? This is keeping in mind that the Android camp does provide decent specs in the same range. Whatever it is, the deciding factor will eventually be the price tag, something that Microsoft seems to have gotten right all along.
