BlackBerry Is Targeting Mid-Level And Small Enterprise Customers In India

With products across multiple price points, the compay believes it's well-positioned to dominate the Indian enterprise market

Canadian smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry has found a sliver of success with its latest handset, renewing its hopes of capitalizing on the enterprise market. With India being one of the last stronghold of BlackBerry users, the company says it's aggressively targeting mid-level and small businesses in the country.

"In India specifically, we are aggressively targeting large, mid-level and small businesses alike. Late last year, we announced the opening of BlackBerry Enterprise Solutions (BES) Centres in Mumbai and Gurgaon as part of our focus on the enterprise mobility market," said John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry.

While the company's high-end Passport smartphone is flying off the shelves, in the Indian market the company's success is due to its presence across multiple price points. BlackBerry's global infrastructure and high security features have won it customers like Indiabulls, Nishith Desai Associates, ITC, AZB & Partners, Bharucha & Partners, just this year.

"BlackBerry has a strong base in India, and we are continuing to build share in this priority market by listening to our customers and delivering the devices and mobile solutions they want," added Chen.

In its most recent quarterly earnings report, BlackBerry posted revenues of $916 million, with about 46 per cent coming from the hardware business, 46 per cent from services and 8 per cent from software and other revenue. While that's no where near what giants like Apple and Samsung earn, but it's good enough to ensure BlackBerry's presence in the hardware business for now.
