Yotaphone With E-ink Display To Go On Sale On October 17 For Rs 23,499
As with every new entry in the Indian smartphone market, the handset will be exclusive to Flipkart.

After a really long wait, the Yotaphone is finally here. The handset was announced today and will go on sale tomorrow for a price of Rs 23,499. The handset comes with a unique always on, “always-dark” E-Ink display on the back, which the smartphone maker has designed for displaying notifications and will even deliver 7-10 times the battery life of a normal smartphone when used in Reading mode only.
When it comes to the Yotaphone, it is all about the back. The smartphone sports a second screen on the back of the handset that utilizes electronic paper display (EPD) technology to deliver notifications, meaning that you will be powering up the smartphone-side of it less frequently leading to outstanding battery savings. The second screen can be customised to display anything from a boarding pass, to a map and will remain that way even if the battery dies thanks to e-ink technology.
As for the specs of the Yotaphone:
- We get a 4.3 inch 720 x 1280 pixel LCD touchscreen display with a 4.3 second screen on the back but with e-ink tech and a resolution of 360 x 640
- Inside we get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.7 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal memory
- The primary camera is a 13 MP unit with an LED flash, while the front-facing sensor is a 1 MP one
- The handset weighs a hefty 146 gms comes with the usual radios, runs Android Jelly Bean and comes with a 1800 mAh battery to power it all
The Yotaphone goes on sale for tomorrow, the 17th of October, for Rs 23,499 and will be sold exclusively on Flipkart.
