LG Launches Its G3-Esque L Bello Smartphone In India At Rs 18,500
Spec for spec the L Bello loses out to many competitors, but does win a few browny points for looking like a G3
Korean electronics major LG has announced the launch of its mid-range L Bello smartphone in the Indian market at a price of Rs 18,500. The company is marketing the device as a cheaper alternative to its flagship G3, as it inherits the same design language and a few UI tricks and features.
The L Bello features a curved plastic back, with the power and volume buttons placed under the primary camera module at the rear. The device is much smaller than the G3 – which has a 5.5-inch Quad-HD display – with a 5-inch IPS FWVGA (480x854 pixel) display, making for a pixel density of 196 ppi.
LG has equipped the equipped the L Bello with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, coupled to 1GB of RAM. There's 8GB of storage memory on board, while users will have the option to expand that up to 32GB with a microSD card. Powering all that hardware is a rather small 2,540mAh battery.
Gone is the laser autofocus mechanism of the LG G3's camera, which is instead replaced by a mundane 8MP primary snapper. The front facing unit has a resolution of 1MP, good enough for video calls, but not so much so for those all-important selfies. A neat feature the L Bello gets is its Gesture Shot function, that does pretty much what it says – takes photos when users make certain gestures.
In terms of software, the L Bello runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, with the interface looking almost identical to that of the G3's. The device also gets LG's useful Knock Code, Smart Keyboard and a host of other features that tie it to its larger sibling.
