Samsung Launches The Premium GALAXY Alpha In India For Rs 40000

The handset will be sold only via brick and motar stores.

Samsung has finally launched its much-awaited GALAXY Alpha smartphone in India that was announced back in August. The premium device is going to be a direct competitor to a number of smartphones including the upcoming Apple iPhone 6.

We are indeed glad to see Samsung take the offline route this time around. So you will not have to rush and queue up online once they go out of stock. The handset will indeed be a hot seller as it packs in quite the punch and going by the looks (metal frame) will cater to the needs of many. Of course its that puny battery that we are worried about, but considering that Samsung has included the latest 5430 Exynos chipset using the 20 nm manufacturing process, we should see the battery deliver.

As for the specs:

  • You get a 4.7 inch 1280 x 720 pixel Super AMOLED display
  • With an octa-core Exynos 5 (5430) (4 x Cortex A15 @1.8 GHz + 4 x Cortex A7 @ 1.3 GHz) powering it
  • 32 GB of internal memory comes standard along with 2 GB of RAM and no expandable memory
  • 12 MP camera sensor with an LED flash and 2.1 MP sensor on the front for selfies
  • As for the radios, you get treated to LTE Category 6 connectivity along with the dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0
  • From the GALAXY S5 we have the fingerprint reader and heart rate monitor as well
  • The handset is powered by a 1860 mAh battery which although puny may have been put there to make the phone lighter at just 115 grams
  • The handset will run Android KitKat 4.4.4 with Samsung’s TouchWiz layer leading the way

The Samsung GALAXY Alpha will be available in black, white, gold, silver and blue and will retail for Rs 39,990 when it goes on sale in the first week of October.
