Lava Reveals XOLO X900

India's first "Intel Inside" smartphone.

Last year, we had tipped you about Intel's plans of entering the smartphone market, and now this has turned into reality. The silicon giant has teamed up with India's low-cost handset maker, Lava to debut its mobile-centric Atom Z2460 processor. The first mobile to mark this venture is the XOLO X900, a touchscreen smartphone based on the Intel XMM 6260 Platform.

The handset runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and is eligible for the ICS update in the future. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz processor and has 1 GB of RAM. The phone features a 4" LCD screen with pixel dimensions of 1024x600. Additionally, you get 16 GB of internal memory, an 8 MP main and a VGA front camera, HDMI port, and NFC.

Although Lava hasn't confirmed, I think the handset will also have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS connectivity features. The gadget is expected to hit the stores after April, but neither Lava nor Intel have shed the light on its pricing. Intel is a well known brand in India, therefore it will be interesting to see whether the iconic Intel Inside logo will manage to attract buyers.
