BlackBerry Announces The Premium Porsche Design P’9983
Run of the mill internals aside, it will be the premium materials used to build this handset that will make it unique.
BlackBerry has finally unveiled its luxury product and the successor to the P’9981, called the Porche Design P’9983. The handset is the third collaboration between the smartphone maker and the design firm and is indeed unique, going by the looks. While the inside still fails to impress us, it is indeed the outside of the P’9983 that will find buyers along with one extra little feature that is unique to this handset -- the BB PIN.
Yes, the Porsche Design P’9883 comes with it own unique BB PIN. BlackBerry says that it simply adds to the exclusivity of the smartphone and users will be instantly recognisable as a Porsche Design user with the exclusive Porsche Design PIN range - 2AAXXXXX.
If that doesn’t excite you (considering that you are a BlackBerry user reading this) one long look at the externals and you will be sold. The handset sports a unique, elegantly-designed BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard that comes with glass-like keys with a special 3D effect for special characters on the sides. While the primary camera is covered with sapphire glass, the back panel of the device comes with a specially made glass-weave technology.
As for the specs, they are pretty much similar to what we have seen from past leaks:
- A 3.1 inch, 720 x 720 pixel touch screen display
- Inside we get a 1.5 GHz dual-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 2 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space (expandable)
- An 8MP auto-focus primary camera with image stabilisation on the back and a similar 2 MP stabilised solution on the front
- Also included will be a 2100 mAh battery unit
- The handset comes with all the usual sensors and radios, will be powered by BlackBerry 10 OS and also includes the new personal assistant tagged as the BlackBerry Assistant
The Porsche Design P’9883 will be available by October at Porsche Design Stores and with select carriers across the world; pricing has not been announced yet.
