Apple iPhone 6 And 6 Plus Pre-Orders Shatter Previous Records

First wave of handsets set to hit stores starting from the 19th of September.

Apple CEO Tim Cook certainly proved that Steve Jobs was wrong all along. Wrong about smaller displays that is; as the company released a note stating that it has just recorded its biggest pre-order figures ever.

In just 24 hours of going on pre-order, the company has about 4 million orders to cater to now. This is coming from the first wave of countries that the iPhone will be sold in, that would include the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico and Singapore. This is quite an achievement when you look at Apple’s past pre-order figures. The iPhone 5 for example saw 2 million pre-orders back in 2012, which clearly indicates one and one thing only; an iPhone with a bigger display will sell better.

This goes against Apple's and Steve Jobs’ philosophy that no one wants “hummer-sized” smartphones. While Apple iPhone 6 Plus is quite an achievement in terms of weight and construction, it still waits to be seen how third-party devs will be able to make use of that massive 5.5 inch display apart from Apple’s optimisations in iOS 8. In the meantime, you can enjoy the ad below.

The next wave of countries that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus would go on sale will include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates. This would take place by the end of this month itself on the 26th of September post which we would finally see the iPhone 6 landing in India on the 17th of October.
