Apple iPhone 6 To Launch On October 17 In India; US Contract-Free Prices Out

This time around you will not need to pester all those relatives living in the US.

 

Apple’s iPhone 6 is clearly on everyone’s wish list by now  (except for the Android faithful)  and everyone’s dying to know what the much-awaited smartphone(s) of the year will cost. The Cupertino tech giant certainly turned heads and wowed audiences yesterday but only revealed the prices based on two year contracts. Now that the contract-free prices are out, Apple's website has finally put up the launch date for the iPhone 6, set for the 17th of October this year in India. 

Bharti Airtel and Aircel subscribers in India will get first dibs on the iPhone while we await some official details about the pricing. One look at the US contract-free pricing and its not exactly cheap by any means. But considering the recent hike in prices for Android-powered handsets like the HTC One M8 and the upcoming GALAXY Note 4 and Note Edge (will cost a bomb) they do look pretty much ok for now.

Indeed it makes no sense looking at prices on contract as the system is not implemented in our country for various reasons (so far).  So its a good thing that we now have access to the contract-free prices for the both iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus mentioned below:

So there you go. Do note that these are the prices for the US market only and considering all the import duties will easily be 5000-10,000 rupees higher than the above mentioned prices. Indeed post September we should expect some sky rocketing prices from private vendors touching lacs of rupees, until the Apple officially starts selling the device on the 17th of October.
