Microsoft To Straighten Out The Settings Menu In WP 8.1 GDDR2
After years of aimless scrolling for options in the settings menu, Windows Phone users finally see a sign of hope.
Whether you are a first time user in the Windows Phone camp or you have been using the mobile OS since inception, you would certainly agree that the Settings menu is one big mess. No matter how many times you have visited the settings menu, the next time you are there, you will again be scrolling aimlessly through the long list, to get to the option you want to modify. Well, recent leaks now point out that the next update for Windows Phone (WP 8.1 GDDR 2) will actually see Microsoft handing over the power to sort out that endless list of settings to Windows Phone (WP) users.
The source who claims to have used a handset running the latest GDDR 2 update states that the Settings menu allows for sorting alphabetically. A big relief for Windows Phone users who have to scroll through the list every time they want to change a system setting. The source also claims that Mobile Data will be available as a toggle and that Cortana will be making it to more markets.
On the hardware side of things, Windows Phone 8.1 GDDR 2 will add support for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC and is also expected to usher in the Quad HD age to the platform.
If you ask us, we would simply prefer the settings menu to be arranged in categories similar to Android or iOS as even an alphabetical sorting would not do much to inculcate a habit. The update is expected to show up somewhere is October, and obviously be available with beginning with the Preview for Developers initially.
