The iPhone 6 May Be Delayed; Weak Display Backlight To Blame
Assembly line had been put on hold for extended periods.
The iPhone 6 has reportedly a snag since the last issue that was related to touch sensitivity on the bigger iPhone panels. This time around it has again to do with the display as after pushing it into the production, things somehow did not work out and Apple being the perfectionist, took it back to the drawing board once again.
The problem resulted in assembly lines sitting idle for long periods over the months of June and July as Reuters via an supply chain insider reported.
Getting into the details, Apple in its quest to make its iPhones slimmer by the year (wonder what we will see ten years from now) designed an all new backlight that featured just a single layer to lighten up the display. After hitting the assembly line, the company discovered that the single layer backlight was not bright enough; post which the display had to be sent back to design to include the extra layer.
Since the assembly line was down for a long time, suppliers are the ones who are suffering and are indeed scampering to get the resources in place to meet the Cupertino giant’s strict timelines.

There is no clear news about how this issue will impact the launch of the iPhone 6. In all probability, Apple may launch the iPhone 6 on time like always, but stocks may be limited. Expect to see longer queues of the Apple faithful lining up this year outside Apple stores.
