Sharp Launches Aquos Crystal And Crystal X With Ultra-Thin Bezels
The LG G3 won’t be able to hold on to that thin bezel title for long.
If you loved the LG G3 with its large screen and super thin bezels, you will most certainly drool all over the Sharp Aquos Crystal. The handset that is on its way to make Japan’s Softbank and Sprint customers in the US really happy, comes with some ultra-thin, almost non-existent bezels. Sharp has announced the handset in Japan and it comes in two variants -- the first one being a flagship device while the second a mid-range 'mini' version of the same. Clearly Samsung will have to work hard on delivering something more path-breaking with its Note 4 flagship.
The first one is more expensive one of the two called the Aquos Crystal X, which sports:
- A bigger 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 pixel screen
- Is powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, coupled with 2 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of internal memory
- The handset comes with a 2610 mAh battery
The Crystal X is certainly a lot smaller than the LG G3 and tightly packs in that Full HD display even though both phones sport displays of the same dimensions.
The Aquos Crystal which is the X’s smaller sibling comes with some water-down specs and basically exists to bring the same bezel-less technology to the mid-segment. The Aquos Crystal sports a:
- Smaller 5 inch 1280 x 720 pixel display
- A Snapdragon 400 processor, coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage
- The battery is of a smaller 2040 mAh capacity.
Both handsets seem to sport metal bezels with textured plastic or glass backs with the Crystal showing a dimpled texture similar to Samsung (albeit a lot sober). The Crystal range from Sharp is powered by Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with Harman Kardon branded Clari-Fi and LiveStage tech that helps deliver better sound quality via the Harman Kardon ONYX Bluetooth speaker.
Sharp will be letting loose both the Crystal X and the Crystal smartphones on the 29th of August on Sprint and Softbank, and as of now, there are no plans of a global release yet.
