iPhone 6 Undergoing Last Phase Of Testing; Will Hit Production Line Soon

With a limited number of devices that will be manufactured to test the production line, seems like we may get our first glimpse of the real iPhone 6 after all.

The Chinese media reports that Foxconn is apparently all geared up to begin the production of Apple’s next smartphone, the iPhone 6. Reports point to the device undergoing the last phase of testing termed ‘product validation testing’ or PVT, say sources within Foxconn.

The PVT phase is basically in process to iron out any problems with the production line. This helps rid the production line of potential problems that would have shown up once the mass production is set in motion. The end result of this testing phase is that Foxconn will have to churn out a couple of iPhones to set things in motion; after all the first order is expected to be in the range of 70 to 80 million units.

Hopefully one of those units leaks out soon and we get our first glimpse of the iPhone 6 and possibly even a demo (by the way things leak out these days). What we are more excited to find out is what that cut out Apple logo on back is there for.

So far the only things we do know about the iPhone 6 is that it will have a 4.7 inch screen with a bigger 5.5 display also rumoured to begin production later. As for the processor, it will be an all-new A8 sporting the dual-core architecture that was present in the A7, but built using the 20nm process and a 2.0 GHz or higher clockspeed. The screen has leaked out plenty of times so far, but going by Apple’s 2X and 3X display resolution jumps, the iPhone 6 will be nowhere near the flagship droids of today with the rumoured 1704 x 960 pixels being the sweet spot. Makes sense since even the most demanding games touch a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720p on mobile displays (off screen) no matter which platform your are on.
