Enough Of The Samsung Note 4; Say Hello To The GALAXY Note Edge
A USPTO patent that was filed just a few days ago shows what may be the premium GALAXY Note 4 we were looking for.
The team at GALAXYClub.nl discovered a rather odd patent filing made at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Going by the name of a GALAXY Note Edge, it certainly this rings a bell, for so far, we have only seen the leaks of the GALAXY Note 4 with a flat (standard) display. With the new name, looks like there will be a second GALAXY Note handset hitting the rumour mill after all.
The filing was done on the 8th of August, and from across the globe in Singapore in a process that began back on the 24th of July 2014. Clearly there is an Asian connection here. We always knew that there would be two GALAXY Note devices getting launched this year, one with a standard, flat display and a ‘premium one’ with a 3-sided YOUM display. Finally, things gradually seem to be getting confirmed. So if you were, like us, unimpressed with the leaked images of the GALAXY Note 4, looks like Samsung may indeed have something path-breaking for us on the 3rd of September after all.
As for the 3-sided display on the GALAXY Note Edge, we guess it would be a product similar to the one showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last year. What worries us the most, is how would such a display resist the bumps and drops that normal smartphones go through; considering that at least one of the edges (if not two) will be taken up by the display.
