Xbox Music For Windows Phone Gets A Big Update
Just when you thought that the team is finally back on track, you see long loading times when opening the albums section.
Yes the Windows Phone team at Microsoft has delivered yet another update to its broken native music player app, Xbox Music. Clearly, the best version of the app existed in Windows Phone 7 with the music hub, but Joe Belfiore and his team are working night an day to improve the player. The new update brings a lots of improvements and also adds a handy ‘recents’ section to make playing music simpler.
The update visibly decreases the launch time of the app and you will notice an overall improvement in smoothness and transitions within the app. One strange thing that we did notice, was the slow loading time for the album art in the albums section in the library. It could be the hardware (Lumia 630 with 512 RAM) that is slowing things down, but it had worked completely fine in the past.
As for the other changes the team has added:
- ‘Recents’ section to make playing your last played tracks easier than ever
- Support for Kid’s Corner
The team has fixed the following:
- Album Art and metadata fixes
- The black screen bug where you are suddenly welcomed with a blank screen has finally gone
- Playlists can now shuffle from almost anywhere in the app
What comes across as good news, is that the team is finally working on adding live tile support for the native music app, in the next update. Currently, the app’s live tile just shows the static music icon.
If you haven’t received your update yet, just head to the Windows Phone Store app on your phone, click on the 3 dotted option menu; tap on settings and hit ‘check for updates’.
