HTC One W8 Specs Confirm That It Will Be The First Premium Windows Phone
Seems like its not only the design that will be borrowed from its Android counterpart, but the hardware as well.
If you thought that the HTC One M8 was the jewel of the Android space, well now that same handset (running Windows Phone 8.1 this time) is geared up to be the first premium offering in the Windows Phone space as well. WPCentral confirmed the specs of what would be HTC’s second stint with Windows Phone since two years and the Taiwanese company will indeed be bringing in the big guns this time around.
Earlier we simply got a glimpse of the Verizon-bound handset, that is all set to make its debut on the 19th of August. This time around the rumour mill has confirmed that the handset will also pack in the same hardware as its Android counterpart (the HTC One M8). So in all probability, this will indeed be the first metal-clad premium offering from the Windows Phone arena and that too with the exact same specs (minus the camera) as Android flagships available to date.
As for the specs, we can now say that the ‘HTC One M8 with Windows Phone’ (or the One W8 as we choose to call it) will sport a:
- 5 inch 1080p Super LCD 3 display sporting a pixel density of 441 ppi
- 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC coupled with 2 GB of RAM
- 32 GB of built-in memory with expandable storage
- 4 MP UltraPixel primary camera along with a 5 MP front-facing unit
- And a 2600 mAh battery, all powered by Windows Phone 8.1
Along with the confirmed hardware specs, we are happy to also confirm that all of HTC’s patented tech from Android such as the BoomSound, Duo Camera and the rest will also be making it to the Windows Phone handset.
Indeed this would peg the HTC above the Nokia Lumia 1020 which Microsoft has now stopped manufacturing. We just hope that HTC has tweaked its UltraPixel camera a bit, since it won’t be winning too many awards considering the legacy that the 1020 left behind.
