Android Device Manager Gets Updated; Adds Callback And Message Options
Two pretty handy additions provided that the finder has the right intentions.
Google has released an update for its Android Device Manager app that will literally let you be the boss if it happens to be stolen, or simply lost. The new update adds two new handy features in the form of the ability to add a callback number and even change the recovery message from your Google account.
Indeed Google has been working on making Android theft-proof, if not completely secure. It’s not that the Android Device Manager was not good enough to begin with. You had the ability to locate your device, reset your lockscreen PIN and erase all the data on your phone.
With the new update, you can now add a call me back number after your have lost your handset, via the web. Once the alert has been activated, the person who finds your phone will simply see a large green call button with the ability to call just the number that your have entered via the web. Also displayed below will be a message that now also can be edited online.
In this case the finder can return the phone in a more convenient fashion and can at least contact the owner directly via an alternate number without breaking into your phone or SIM card first.
