Philips I928 And S388 Smartphones Get Listed On Official Indian Website
Seems like Philips is all geared up to take on the Indian smartphone market for the second time.
Philips is clearly not a handset you would reach out for on store shelves today, but it certainly was a different scenario back in the 90s when the company used to make some really decent-sized handsets. Of course the company is all set to change all of that, and after launching a trio of handsets back in May, it is ready bring in the big guns to the Indian market as well with the mid-range I928 and S388 Android-powered smartphones.
The handsets have just been listed on the website as of now, but so are the prices. First, lets have a look at the specifications.
The I928 is clearly a mid-ranger, at least in terms of specifications. It packs in a 6 inch Full HD, 2.5 D curved display which is powered by a 1.7 GHz, octa-core MediaTek SoC coupled with 2 GB of RAM. 16 GB of internal memory is available along with a micro SD card expansion slot. Also included is a 13 MP primary camera, with an LED flash on the back with a 5 MP sensor up front. As for the design, it comes with a faux-leather like finish in a slim 7.9mm construction which also packs in a 3000 mAh battery.
The S388 looks more like the W3500 that was launched a few months ago. We get 4.5 inch qHD IPS display powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory. The S388 also comes with expandable storage in the form of a micro SD card slot. The camera is 5 MP primary unit with an LED flash along with a 0.3 MP front-facing one.
Both the handsets come with “mandatory” dual SIM which is common with handsets in their respective segments and are powered by Android Jelly Bean 4.2. The I928 is priced at Rs 38,538 which is a bit steep for the hardware that it showcases, while the S388 is priced at Rs 13,694. Both devices will be available in black when they go on sale, which should happen sometime soon since they have now been officially listed on the website.
