Samsung’s Shiny GALAXY Alpha May Launch On August 13

Leaked hardware specifications show some pretty robust hardware inside.

Samsung is indeed on a roll to announce some brand new handsets lately. Senior VP of mobile communications, Kim Hyun-Joon literally made attempts to calm down investors who were worried about the underwhelming quarterly performance stating that Samsung will be launching two new handsets shortly. While the first handset is said to be made of new materials, the second come with a larger screen (Note 4 anyone?). Indeed the first handset he was referring to is the long-rumoured GALAXY Alpha, which is supposed to be Samsung’s first Android handset to sport a metal frame around the edges. Now, rumours have it that the earlier speculated launch date has been shifted from the 4th of August to the 13th of August.

More details of the rumoured handset have also leaked out. The handset will supposedly sport the Octa-core Exynos 5433 chipset which is no slouch by any means; with 4 Cortex A15 cores and 4 Cortex A7 cores apart from the quad core GPU. The Alpha is also expected to boast a 12 MP primary camera and 2MP front facing one along with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory.

The handset is by no means a mid-ranger, at least by ways of the chipset that is being used here. When it comes to displays, the expected 720p display will not fall short and will in fact see a boost when it comes to graphics performance. Indeed its not about the numbers that makes a well performing smartphone these days. Has Samsung found the sweet spot? Well, we will know pretty soon.
