BlackBerry Slashes Rates Of Its QWERTY Phones By Up To Rs 6,000

The company hopes more people will have the chance to experience its legendary QWERTY keypad.

 

Struggling Canadian handset manufacturer BlackBerry has slashed the prices of its QWERTY devices - 9320, 9720 and Q5, by as much as Rs 6,000 in India. Courtesy of the price cut, customers can now experience using BB's legendary physical keyboard for as little as Rs 9,900.

While the company's most recent devices, the Z3, Z10 and Z30, may have ditched the physical keyboard altogether, BlackBerry still believes there are takers for its QWERTY phones. With a reduction in price the company is hoping more people will take to using the devices and induct them into its group of die hard fans.

The BB 9320 will now cost Rs 9,900, down from its earlier price of Rs 11,000. The price cut has also allowed the company to compete in the sub-Rs 10,000 price bracket alongside other entry-level devices. The 9720 will cost Rs 11,900 as opposed to its earlier (and somewhat ridiculous) price of Rs 15,990.

The Q5, which is BlackBerry's more modern take on the QWERTY smartphone, will now cost Rs 13,990, a whopping 30 percent reduction from its earlier price of Rs 19,990. Unlike with the price cuts the Z10 and Z30 which were reduced under special offers, the price cuts on the QWERTY devices is here to stay.

BlackBerry will be looking to repeat the success it enjoyed with slashing the rates of the Z10 and Z30 earlier this year. The company claimed the devices ran out of stock due to increased demand from buyers.
