MSN Launches Social Aggregator msnNOW

Powered by Bing, Microsoft aims at cashing in on the social networking nerve.

Microsoft seems to have finally decided try its hands in the social networking arena, but unlike competitors Google, it has stopped short of launching its own social network. Instead, the company has decided to bring out a social media aggregator service that uses various platforms such as Bing, Facebook, and Twitter. The service called msnNOW presents trending topics from websites including FB, Twitter, Bing, and BreakingNews.com, through a single web portal.

You can also access the service from your cell phones or tablet using a cloud app, through the FB page, or via Twitter, and share stories on these services as well. Looks like this is the latest trend to hit social networking circles, as several such services have already started gaining popularity. A while ago, Twitter announced buying out news service Summify. How this helps turn the fortunes for Bing, and Microsoft social networking dreams, only time will tell.

For now, it seems like the service is taking into consideration the trends appealing to US-based users only. Looking at the reach of the medium, we surely hope it will soon grow to cater to the Indian audiences as well.
