iPhone 6's Sapphire Glass Survives Extreme Stress Test

The reviewer literally places the panel under his foot in an attempt to break it; but fails.

Marques Brownlee, YouTube tech reviewer, reportedly got his hands on a 4.7 inch iPhone 6 front panel and decided to conduct a series of stress test, which it survived.

There is no way to verify the credibility of the panel that he ended up testing, but considering that the reviewer's past records, we can believe that it is the original iPhone 6 front panel.

Before the test, Brownlee does point out that the display was provided by leaker Sonny Dickson, who has in the past revealed a lot about the iPhone 6. The display gets two things perfectly right, clarity without any distortion and strength of unbelievable proportions.

The tester decides run a few scratches with a knife and then rubs a few keys over it with no signs of a single scratch. Next up he takes scratching to another level by even hammering the knife onto the panel with no signs of a scratch.

Lastly, in the ultimate stress test, he even tries to flex it, and even placed half of it under his shoe trying to bend the display to the limits. Well, it does not break with not even a single crack showing up.

Apple had shifted from Corning’s Gorilla Glass solutions after they discovered that their products were clearly not what the company was looking for. Innovators in hardware that they are, the company decided to makes it own front panels with a combination of glass and a coating of sapphire on it. So far everything clearly works and Apple can stake the claim for the toughest front panel ever produced.
