Microsoft Readies A Beta Version Of Its Office Apps For Android Tablets
What's funny is that there's no word on the touch-friendly version of Office for Windows.
Microsoft released its Office for iPad apps a few months ago, and going by the response the company has enjoyed, it's now ready to launch Office apps tailor made for Android tablets. What's surprising is that Office for Android apps will beat a touch-friendly version of Office for the Windows platform in making it to the market.
According to TheVerge, Microsoft is currently prepping a beta build of the new softwares, which will give companies and individuals the chance to test Office on Android tablets. However, soon after the news broke, the company took down a sign-up page allowing users to become beta testers for the new apps.
There were several doubts when Microsoft initially announced its Office for iPad apps, especially to do with how many users would opt for its Office-365 paid subscription service. This time around however lesser questions should be asked, simply due to the sheer success the company has had with Office for iPad apps.

It will be interesting to gauge how Android tablet users take to Office apps tailor made for the platform. It has long been touted that most business and productivity users prefer the iPad over Android devices, but we should get a clearer picture soon after Microsoft launches the new apps for the public.
For Microsoft the bottom line is selling Office 365 subscriptions through the front of Office for iPad and now for Android. The company will undoubtedly be looking to beat the 27 million downloads for Office for iPad apps in 46 days with the launch of its apps for Android tablets.
