Google To Pull Out QuickOffice From Play Store
The company may pull the plug once Google Slides is available on iOS
Google is all set to discontinue the QuickOffice from app stores across all platforms. There were indications of the move, ever since the QuickOffice was integrated into the Google drive.
The online search giant had made the app free on both Android and iOS in September after it acquired QuickOffice in 2012.
A few days ago, Google announced on the official Google Apps blog that: “With the integration of QuickOffice into the Google Docs, Sheets and Slides apps, the QuickOffice app will be unpublished from Google Play and the App Store in the coming weeks. Existing users with the app can continue to use it, but no features will be added and new users will not be able to install the app.”
Even though the company hasn’t set a deadline, the plug may be pulled after the google slides is available on iOS. At present only the Google Docs and Sheets are available on iOS.
In April, it introduced the Google Docs and Sheets to create and edit documents and spreadsheets on iOS and it will only be a matter of time that the Slides is also introduced. The company had spoken about these three core apps during the Google I/O.
At the moment, QuickOffice is available for download on the App Store.
