Samsung Ups The Competition; Unveils QHD, Snapdragon 805-Powered S5 In Korea

The Korean electronics giant apparently saved the best for last.

Samsung has unveiled the GALAXY S5 in Korea, which comes with broadband LTE-A. The device sports a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Inside comes a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 SoC coupled with a generous 3GB of RAM. Indeed, looks like the company has gone all out to impress its customers in its home country.

The rest of the features are pretty much similar to the international version of the Samsung GALAXY S5; including the fingerprint sensor and the IP 67 certification for dust and water resistance. You get the 16MP primary camera with LED flash and 2.1MP front-facing one as well. As you can see from the images below, Samsung has also included the heart rate monitor from the international S5 which is placed below the camera unit on the back.

If you remember Samsung made a similar move the last time around with the GALAXY S4. The Korean electronics giant launched a Korean version with a Snapdragon 800 processor instead of the international version which came with Snapdragon 600 and Exynos 5 options. We have no clue why Samsung offered the international GALAXY S5 with 2GB of RAM considering that Android device along with Samsung’s TouchWiz is often memory hungry. Still then the company is indeed preparing a GALAXY F, a QHD version which seems to come with better specs than the current international variant and sport a more sober –looking design as well.
