OneMusic: A Clean And Simple Music Listening Experience For Windows Phone
Probably one of the only music listening apps that does not connect to the internet.
One look at OneMusic and you will be sold on the interface. Everything here spells clarity and this is what most people need when they listen to music. Just my music and yourself, no suggestions, no mixes, no artist bio data.
OneMusic delivers just that a simple UI that is easy to use and will not get in your way thanks to its side scrolling swipe UI. We did wish that the titles for each section were more like the Modern UI, with the big font et al but still then it looks pretty functional nonetheless.
Looks aside, the music player does everything pretty well and in a straightforward manner. Everything looks pretty much Android-like and including the placement of the buttons on the play menu at the bottom centre of the screen.
Managing and creating playlists is easy and you can even search for your music by clicking on the search icon, which is present in almost every section minus the now playing screen. There is a bit of customisation included as well. You can change the colour accents according to the colour of your choice and even choose to see the now playing screen first upon launch.
What we did not like about the player was that it lacked dynamic live tile support (coming from an app that runs on Windows Phone 8.1 only). This is a nifty feature that the Nokia Mix Radio Player has which displays the current track and album art on the start screen tile. Also the fonts were a bit too fine for our liking and appeared pixelated, something which becomes noticeable if you happen to be using a handset with a WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) display.
All-in-all a simple player which gets the job done with its simple UI and menu system. This is clearly an app for those who find the Nokia Mix Radio and Xbox Music apps too complicated and slow to load because they always try to connect to the internet.
