Leaked: GALAXY S5 Mini's Images And Specs Pack Quite A Punch
Looks more ‘flagship’ and less ‘mini’.
The Samsung GALAXY S5’s smaller sibling has finally posed in high-res photo-shoot. The GALAXY S5 Mini looks exactly like the GALAXY S5 and sticks to Samsung’s long lasting tradition of building similar looking handsets, but it has to be similar due to its deep-rooted features that come from the GALAXY S5.
A bit toned down is the imaging department, which hosts an 8MP primary snapper with a 2.1MP front-facing one. And yes, below the camera is that heart rate monitor along with a fingerprint sensor on the home button on the front. Also included are all the premium features from the S5 including the Ultra Power Saving mode, Private mode, latest TouchWiz UX and NFC.
Then again, the handset includes the “premium” dimpled design and should feel exactly similar to the GALAXY S5, only smaller. The source even claims that even though the Mini lacks the micro USB port cover (for water resistance), the device is IP67-certified.
Also confirmed are the specs — a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED display (1280 x 720 pixel) powered by an Exynos 3 quad-core chipset, clocked at 1.4 GHz with 1.5 GB of RAM. Clearly this device is no slouch and can stand tall all by itself in a sea of competitors.
So yes, Samsung is breaking some old traditions here and offering better hardware compared to the ‘mini’ offerings of the past and even includes the flagships heart rate monitor and fingerprint sensor. Looks like Samsung has learnt that GALAXY S5 may sell better in ‘mini’ form because of the standards raised by HTC and Sony in the premium segment this year. Yes, you can thank HTC and Sony for that.

As for the price, clearly, it will be the deciding factor on which we have no news about just yet.
