LG Sells 100,000 G3 Handsets In Korea In Just 5 Days

Will the Oppo beat LG to the Quad HD smartphone launch in India?

It’s just been 5 days and LG is already reporting some astonishing sales numbers for its flagship smartphone, the LG G3. LG is reported to have sold 100,000 units of its stunning flagship in just the first five days of launch. The device is second only to the Oppo Find 7 which launched a few months ago, and comes with a lot more features than its competitors.

We had reported recently that the Korean electronics manufacturer beat the Samsung GALAXY S5’s sales figures. LG managed to move about 30,000 handsets per day versus Samsung’s 8,000 units during the first 3 days of launch.

This compared to the LG G3’s predecessor the LG G2, saw a much lower number last year. However, you should keep in mind that the handset is yet to be released overseas and that these are just the numbers from LG’s hometown, Korea.

The GALAXY S5 this year sold a staggering 10 million units in the first 25 days, but then again the handset saw a simultaneous launch in 125 countries worldwide. For obvious reasons, Apple is still the ‘King of the Ring’ selling a mind numbing 5 million units in just 3 days of launch. Still then, LG’s sales figures go to show that buyer preferences are indeed changing.

With the LG G3 yet to see a launch globally, the Oppo Find 7 seems to be the next best thing when it comes to the already limited choice of devices sporting Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixel) displays.

In India, LG’s handset could sell well considering that the GALAXY S5 did not do well this year. We just reported yesterday that Oppo is all geared up to launch its Oppo Find 7 and 7a in India on the 11th of June. A move which could tip the scales in Oppo’s favour since Samsung is usually the flagship manufacturer to beat in India (for reasons only known by those who buy their handsets). LG often comes in 3rd in terms of flagship sales compared to Sony who has already built a robust portfolio of devices, sitting in second.
