Samsung GALAXY S5 Prime Gets Certified In South Korea
Now that the handset has passed the certification process, let’s hope that Samsung can play catch up.
Samsung has been denying the existence of GALAXY S5 Prime ever since the launch of the GALAXY S5, but the devices indeed exist and have been received by South Korea’s certification authority, Radio Research Agency (RRA), which has given its stamp of approval.
Apparently Samsung had sent three variants of the device to the RRA - G906S, G906K and the G906L - with each model destined to SKT, KT and U+ mobile operators in Korea.
What began with clear suspicion, led to rumours, to Bluetooth certificates and finally actual photos of the device itself, now finally the rumours have been confirmed. It looks like Samsung did not want to disturb the GALAXY S5 sales, which is why they had denied the existence of the Quad HD Prime variant.
The GALAXY S5 Prime is rumoured to sport an all-metal construction and a 5.2 inch Quad HD (2560 x1440 pixel) AMOLED display along with beefed up hardware internals. It is interesting because this disclosure comes a day after LG G3 beating the sales figures of the GALAXY S5 in Samsung’s hometurf, Korea. The S5 Prime is basically, an attempt to gain lost market share, where Samsung clearly lost out to Sony, HTC and more importantly LG; in terms of design and software features.
