Report: Mobile Phone Internet Usage In India Skyrockets
Nokia leads both in the global and Indian markets.
Web analytics company StatCounter has released a report that shows how global internet usage through mobile devices (excluding tablets), has almost doubled in the last one year. From 4.3% in January 2011, the figure grew to 8.5% as on January, 2012. However, the Indian usage figures are higher than global stats. The figures have grown from just 18.8% in 2011 to an impressive 42.25% in 2012.
Moreover, users seem to be quickly moving away from using the internet on their PCs, to staying connected on the go. The report however doesn’t specify if the mobile internet usage is based on Wi-Fi, GPRS, or 3G access.
The firm has also published data showing the top 10 mobile vendors according to the number of internet-enabled devices. Nokia leads the worldwide numbers with Apple following closely. However, as far as Indian figures are concerned, the Finnish brand is miles ahead of its competitors, with Samsung and Sony Ericsson rounding off the top three. Are you also contributing to these figures?
