Leaked Images Show A Metal-Clad GALAXY S5 Prime In Full View
Should we expect a June launch for Samsung’s first metal bodied flagship smartphone?
Leaked images of the GALAXY S5 Prime, reported by PhoneArena are now available in full view. The phone as reported is the long-rumoured GALAXY S5 Prime, the GALAXY S5’s premium sibling, which has been talked about since the day the latter launched. We finally get our first glimpse of what a metal-bodied flagship from Samsung would finally look like.
The leaked images clearly show the device’s metal clad back and polished aluminium bezels to go with it. The device looks exactly like the GALAXY S5 which launched a month ago with the only exception being the metal, which gives the device a more robust look. A noticeable change would be the device’s speaker grille which has moved from the back to the bottom right on the bezel and sits comfortably next to the USB port. Lastly, the heart-rate monitor has now been grouped together with the camera unit reducing the number of cavities on the back panel of the device. Yes, in case you were wondering, the back panel is removable.
The screen is visible in all its glory, but it is hard to say whether it is indeed a QHD (2560 x 1440) display due to the quality of the images. The bezels are a lot thicker but thanks to that, we can now safely say that the screen will be less susceptible to damages when dropped. Even though the back cover seems to be made out of metal, Samsung seems to be going with a painted finish here which could eventually result in some nasty dings and scratch marks on the back. Still then the final unit may sport a brushed metal, scratch resistant look instead.
With the Oppo Find 7 losing out only due to market availability and LG all geared up to launch its QHD G3, we expect Samsung to announce the GALAXY S5 Prime soon. So for those of you who have held on to their GALAXY S5 purchase, you may have to wait until June; where we are expecting the Prime to be announced along with the new GALAXY Tab S tablet range.
