Google Play Store Gains PayPal Support; Adds Carrier-Billing To A Few More Countries

Samsung seems to have beat Google at introducing carrier-billing for India.

Google has finally introduced PayPal payments for purchases made in its Play Store. Of course the roll-out of the service is gradual and for now is only limited to 12 countries, including the US, Germany and Canada. Apart from this Google has also announced that it has now added a couple of more countries for its carrier-billing option for the Play Store.

It’s been a long wait, but Google has finally introduced PayPal payments which will allow Android users to purchase apps a lot easier than before. All users have to do is log into their PayPal account when purchasing an app, enter their details and they are good to go.

PayPal certainly makes transactions a lot safer compared to the current system of using credit cards. The complete list of countries with support for PayPal in the Google Play Store right now includes Austria, Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, United States and the United Kingdom.

Apart from PayPal payments, Google has also added a few more countries when it comes to carrier-billing. Strangely the countries with low-credit card penetration like India do not seem to be there on the list, which kind of kills it. India may show up on that list pretty soon because Samsung already seems to have taken that leap roping in Vodafone and Aircel to begin with.  Google’s loss is Samsung’s gain? Well, not exactly as some apps in the Samsung’s app store do take you straight to the Play Store, which kind of make the Samsung App Store pointless in a way.
