Samsung's Galaxy Beam 2 Projector Phone Surfaces On Company's China Website
The phone will come quipped with a 4.66-inch WVGA screen and 1.2GHz quad-core processor.
Samsung launched its first projector equipped Galaxy Beam smartphone back in 2010, which sold well enough to make the company go in for an upgrade. Now however the device's successor, Galaxy Beam 2, has been listed on the company's Chinese website.
Samsung's first projector phone was launched in India in July 2012 at a price of Rs. 29,900. The device however did not make much of an impact on the market given its outdated specifications and high price tag.
The Galaxy Beam 2 will come with a Pico projector mounted at the top of the device, which is the phone's biggest highlight. In terms of construction the phone flaunts a metallic body similar to that seen of the Samsung Ativ Windows handset.
A detailed outlook on specifications have not been provided yet, but Samsung's webpage does mention the phone will come with a 4.66-inch WVGA LCD display and will be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. Apart from this the phone will also feature Bluetooth 4.0, a memory card slot allowing a maximum storage of 64GB, a 2600mAh battery and will run on Android JellyBean 4.2.
The site does not list a prospective launch date of the phone in China, neither does it say if the Galaxy Beam 2 could come to other markets. Judging by the limited user base for such a phone, and its past failures in most markets, Samsung could very well restrict the phone's sale only to China.
