Apple Announces It Will Recycle Any Of Its Products For Free
At a time when inculcating practices is a must, who better to teach us than Apple?
In a bid to reduce its impact on the environment, tech giant Apple has announced that it will offer free recycling of its used products worldwide, and power all of its stores, offices and data centres with renewable energy.
The maker of the iPhone and iPad is using its cult following and its high regard among the technology community to promote green energy. The company even launched an environment section on its website detailing how it plans to go about making a greener Apple Inc.
Apple has already been distributing gift cards at its stores in exchange for iPods and iPhones that are in good enough nick to be re-sold. Now the company has announced that it will recycle any Apple products returned to its store free of charge.
The company has already been publicising its efforts to reduce the amount of electronic waste it sends to landfills. The announcement of its recycling initiative was timed with the annual celebration of Earth Day, highlighting that Apple is an environment steward in a time when devices are some of the major contributors to pollution.
Recently, the company had also announced its plans to stop the usage of conflict metals in the construction of its devices. While the company doesn't manufacture its own devices, it has asked many of its contract manufacturers to stop doing so.
Apple is using its prominence to promote a not just the technological trends of the future, but also an environment friendly outlook. In the end, green habits are something which must be inculcated, and who better to teach us than Apple?
