Samsung Rumoured To Use A 3-Sided YOUM Display On The GALAXY Note 4

Bended sides will most probably be used to display notifications.

The Korean media now reports that the upcoming Samsung GALAXY Note 4 will feature a bended glass display. What is more interesting is that the display will be a Samsung YOUM one as showcased back at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2013 but will have 3 sides. Yes, you read it right; the display will have 3 sides much like the model which was displayed by Samsung exec, Brian Berkeley at CES last year.

We guess the device may end up looking similar to the prototype shown at CES 2013 but may be slimmer as the device was indeed a bit bulky. The display was indeed jaw-dropping and showed that Samsung was very serious about display tech. But after the YOUM branding for such displays was announced, we barely saw any new phones that made use of such bent or flexible screen technology. May be the resources needed to produce such displays was not available back then and is right now; which is why such news has finally surfaced.

Samsung is known for creating concept like smartphones with some weird form factors; something that Nokia was known for back in the early 2000’s (remember the Nokia 7600?). The Samsung Round was one such pointless device, but the true challenge for Samsung would not be making such a 3-sided display, but how well the new real estate can be optimised for Android/TouchWiz.

For those of you who did not see catch the announcement back then, you can watch the video below.
